Music is a combination of different parts that once they are combined make a song, for instance you have an intro and then usually go to a first verse. Then the music changes again into a chorus, then the artist could add in another verse and then usually has a bridge or solo section. And then they may return to a verse before doing an outro or ending the song. It's a very complex order of thinking because of all the different instruments that make up a song, usually you have drums, guitars, bass guitar, maybe vocals, and sometimes depending on the song or the genre many more instruments.

offer two or more different sources as evidence or support for a point in your own argument/counterargument. The synthesis will show the chorus of voices that support the argument and will have something new to add the conversation.

truth you thought you knew?

i thought a Lady at work was a good friend and i thought i could trust her, but found out i couldn't.
a lady at work who always says she's friends with everybody but she spreads rumours as fast as you can tell them. i consider her as a friend but i am always aware of things i cannot tell her. She's a nice lady and she's very convincing about talking with people cos she doesn't trust many people either. But at my work lies ans other rumours spread really fast so its hard to do anything with anybody cos if she finds out then it's more likely that everyone in the store finds out and then they sort of harass you about it.
I thought i knew her so well and i trusted her with a lot of personal things until i found out that she blabs stuff to people and now i don't talk much about personal things with her, but i was disappointed when i found out that she doesn't keep secrets.

when i was in 2nd grade, I thought panda bears could live in australia. but found out that they live in china

i have had to try and convince people at work to trade shifts with me and i try to promise i'll help them out when they need it. I'm really good at keeping my promises that i make to people so i don't feel like i'm taking people for granted. ive even had to give up some of my shifts to make them happy

I remember my sister used to convince me to trade stuff i had that was mine for something stupid or that i'd regret later. I remember once i had a toy and my sister convinced me to trade it for an oreo or something like that.

When i was in high school i was convinced to smoke by my friends cos i thought it was cool, it was bad cos i ended up getting hooked and smoked for two years before my parents convinced me to choose between singing and smoking the choice was clear to me, but the fact that i was easily conned into smoking. Even today it is hard for me sometimes to not smoke like when i get stressed i want to smoke but i convince myself otherwise.

our culture convinces people to do a lot of things through ads, tv, computers.. Like smoking they show that it's cool to smoke but they don't show the consequences and they don't say how many people die from it. they also have ads that show huge portions of food on tv and in magazines to get people hungry, and they wonder why america has the highest obesity rate. Our culture has a real problem in convincing people how to act what to wear what to eat what music to listen to. it's rediculous.

intro to fieldwork paper

What does it take to make it in the field of music business.. what steps should one take to accomplish an understanding on how to succeed? Have you ever wondered what it's like to navigate the scene? How does writing help convey the music to the audience or to the upper level bosses? I asked a friend in the business who manages his music career and who also teaches to students. I wanted to learn his views on the aspects of the business and on how he teaches his students.

freewritee 3 1/24/06 who can you talk to?

i actaully don't know that many people that do managing for the music business but i do know people who have dealt with the music business so i figured i'd start there. i'm gonna try to find some studios here in denver where managers might hang out. or ask bands about their managers and so on.

I think writing can be important in the field i'm chosing because you ahve to be able to sell your bands that you manage and have to be able to keep logs of buutsiness transactions. i didn't think about that before but i can see where it would be important to be able to portray a certain face and be able to communicate with bosses and other management staff..and also record companies probably need detailed information on the bands and business you want to do.

where are you acedemically or where do you want to be?

I'm not sure where i want to be academically because i haven't really focused my energies on school, because essentially i want to be a musician, but i told myself that if i couldn't find a band or a project that i would go to school for a music management degree.. so i started here at FRCC about 2 years ago and have just recently returned from taking a break cos i was in a band for about a 1 and a half but we just broke up last year.

I never actually thought of the writing i'd be doing towards other managers and all i've been mainly focused on lyrics, i'm not too knowledged on what goes on between band and manager since my band never had one. i guess that would be something to research so i can learn about the management side of things.

I'm really bad at writing formed essays especially when the topic is set, i seem to flow better as a story writer so when the structure isn't set i seem to do better.. but i realised that the MLA formula is kinda hard for me, but i'm making my attempts to be better at it. Sometimes when i write i can't form my thoughts.

Visual Design for Reflection paper

freewrite 3/2/06

After watching the whole documentary "Bowling for Columbine" I am appalled by our government and by celebrities like Heston, and Clark. After the tragedy of Columbine and the Buell shooting i can't believe what Heston did. To have NRA rallies right after the tragedies is complete crap i think he knew about said events but was ignorant and didn't care for the well being of all who were involved. Clark was too caught up in his own affairs to answer even one question from Moore, and i think that is just arrogant.. I would hope that if i was an artist whether it was in music or in the movie business that if someone wanted a piece of my time for a documentary that could change the lives of many or at least make them open their eyes to our problems that i'd want to be a part of that.
In class we talked about how Moore set things up to show his views of the situation and while that can be classified as true i wonder how much of it wasn't edited out. There are the facts that he portrays about how many people die per year and the US has the most fatalities. I think i am biased in my opinion when it comes to government officials, i don't truely believe that the government is doing any good for the people. i agree that we as a societty need a government but i don't think Bush is running everything like he should be.

It's the day after the presentation, i feel my group did very well. I didn't end up being as nervous as i originally thought i would be. I was feeling nervous about standing in front of the whole class and speaking, but oddly enough i feel things went fine. So far I am really liking Eng 122 i didn't know what to expect going in, since I've been out for a few semesters. I thought everyone's presentations were very informative and it made me realise that no matter what profession one chooses, writing will always be important.

06 Feb 2006

It's been a busy weekend preparing my paper and my parts for the presentation. I had to re-read my interview questions so i could add more to my results section, I wanted to make sure I had enough in my paper. I also have to prepare myself for the presentation on Tuesday, I'm a bit afraid of public speaking but I think if i rehearse all my parts over and over I won't be as nervous. I think my group is well prepared we've got each part mapped out, I think this will help in the long run of things. I don't have much else to write for now so i will end on that note.

the fieldwork presentation 1/31/06

I finally got an interview that i can use, my original interviewee never returned my emails so i went to my music lesson prepared to ask my vocal/piano teacher what she thought about writing in the work place. Most of the questions came with the same type of answer but it was more than i had to go on before.. I think this will be my hardest paper cos i've never had to write a scientific paper so when i'm sitting down trying to type it seems kind of hard to come up with a specific idea.. I'm hoping that now that i have an interview that the structure of the methods and results sections will fit their way into my thoughts and i'll be able to write a good sounding paper. well that's all i can think of for now

the start of my personal research paper

I begin my study by talking to a friend through instant messenger, about my topic for this paper because i needed to narrow it down but couldn't see where i could narrow it.. he helped me realise my topic was quite simple and even gave me a site to help me out with my searching. i will look into it further when i get home and begin to actually look at the site and begin the process of writing with my shortened topic.

A restless mind makes for a day

I wonder what madness reaps here. i can't sleep cos i'm nervous about all my new classes and wonder how hard they'll be, and if i got the right books. lol well on to find out what other adventures await for my grand arrival. I hope my music class is as challenging as i think my english class will be.

The beginning of the madness to come

Ok i'm new to this so i'm having a go at what lies ahead.
It's 2AM and right now i'm trying to think of how i should narrow my paper for my english class... it's a personal research paper and i'm kinda stuck because personally all i really know about is music, but even though i chose a question about music i think i need to narrow it down.
At this point in time it's more of a brainstorm convention but who knows i think with a better rested mind i could decide what my ultimate question will be. Ciao
